JACK
LARSON
Jack and Zack Larson might look identical, but their paths in life could not be more different. While Zack studied hard in school and ended up, through diligent work, being the head of security for Governor Kell, Jack made only lateral moves through life, having the intelligence but not the motivation to pursue education as his brother had. He grew bored in school and left for greater variety. He bounced between jobs, never finding true purpose or fulfillment. After being a locksmith, landscaper, cashier, construction worker, mail man, electrician, plumber, bouncer, warehouse worker, receptionist, barber, mechanic, bishop delivery guy, and janitor, he had gained innumerable practical skills and experience, but he had done nothing permanent. The things he repaired eventually broke; the things he cleaned got dirty again; there was never an end to delivering packages. With all he’d done, nothing had really made a difference. His turbulent lifestyle was a turnoff for women, who could find no physical security with a man who annually got bored of his job and changed career paths entirely. Though romantic attachment had never been the highest priority for him, he always put forth effort, knowing that maybe someday something would stick. He is 41 by the time of the summit but hasn’t given up hope, knowing it is never too late to find love.

Kell was an unforgiving boss, and Head of Security Zack fell sick shortly before the summit. Not wanting to stand in the sun for hours in such a state, and knowing his brother to be willing to take risks, he and Jack made a plan. Zack broke away from the square before the summit started and hurried to Jack’s apartment. Jack, at the time, was working as a janitor in Ametrine and was growing bored. He put on his brother’s uniform and learned the basics of what he should do. After leaving Zack with some ‘Quil and a way to watch the summit from the comfort of his couch, Jack headed to his undercover role as head of security.

When the summit went south, he was ready to fight from the beginning. He risked his life spraying foam onto a mech’s rifle in order to buy time for civilians to escape. One of the women he saved later vouched for him when he tried to flee into Tenacity in his brother’s NEC uniform. When the general asked what would become fireteam Fallen to make the ultimate sacrifice and become mech pilots for the Union, Jack was the first to agree. A mech might give him the way to make a lasting difference he’d been searching for all this time, and he was about ready for a job change, anyway.
